Cairo: Oman Tuesday announced 18 further coronavirus cases, taking the total infections in the country to 84.
The latest cases – all Omanis – include 11 who had been in touch with previous patients and five others linked to travel to Britain and the UAE, the Health Ministry said in an update. The two other cases are being investigated, the
ministry added in an update.
There have been 17 recoveries among the overall cases, according to the ministry.
Oman’s national carrier, meanwhile, will halt its flights to and from Turkey’s city of Istanbul, the latest such step, the Omani news agency ONA reported.
Oman Air will suspend scheduled flights between Muscat and Istanbul starting from Wednesday until March 31 due to restrictions on travel, the agency added.
Oman an has put in place a series of precautions aimed at preventing the spread of the Covid-19. They include stopping issuing tourist visas and all sporting events as well as banning the entry of tourist vessels to the sultanate’s ports.
The Sultanate has also banned public gatherings and stopped printing all publications for the same reason.
