Muscat: Four Gulf nationals were sentenced to community service for reckless driving in Salalah, in Oman’s second community service this year.
Salalah Primary Court sentenced the accused to three months in jail, and fined them 500 riyals for performing drifting stunts in Salalah. The court also ordered that they not be allowed to enter the country for three years after the completion of the sentence, apart from confiscating their vehicles.
In addition to their original sentence, the defendants have to do farming and planting in Salalah for four hours every day for three months under the supervision of the Public Prosecution and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
An official at the Public Prosecution told Gulf News this was the second community service sentence this year, without giving further details.

Drivers who perform drifting stunts on roads can face jail terms of up to three months and be fined up to OMR500 as per Article 42 of the traffic law.
Article 57 of the new Omani Penal Code provides supplementary penalties, including the commissioning of a social service.
In addition, the convict can be jailed for one month if he does not comply with the public service sentence.
In February, the same court issued a first-of-its-kind community service sentence to a number of defendants.
The court sentenced the convicts to sweep and clean roads in Salalah for four hours a day, for a month, in addition to their original sentence.
