Dubai: Nearly 20,000 expatriates have registered for a waiver to leave Oman without paying fines, after the government announced an exemption to overstay penalties, the Ministry of Labour said on Sunday.

The registration for the waiver scheme runs from November 15 until December 31, 2020.

“The total number of applicants registered for waiver from November 15 to 26 touched 19,527,” Ministry said in a statement.

According to the figures released by the Ministry, “9581 are active applicants, 8517 have left the work and 966 do not have work permits,” the statement added.
