Abu Dhabi: The criminal security department has been assigned to take legal measures against a former Kuwait governor, who reportedly visited another person in his Diwaniya violating the decisions of the Cabinet and health authorities concerning the total curfew imposed across the country, the General Administration of Relations and Security Media at the Kuwait Ministry of Interior said Friday.

The governor’s visit was posted on social media.

Kuwait enacted a total curfew from 4pm on Sunday until May 30 to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The General Department of Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior called on everyone to abide by the decisions of the Cabinet and health authorities and the total curfew.

The department said that the law applies to all citizens and residents without exception or discrimination.

Kuwait is divided into six governorates (muhafazah), ruled by governors, politicians ranking under the head of state.
