Kuwaiti coastguard killed in clash with Iraqi fishermen

Manama: Iraqi fishermen have reportedly killed a Kuwaiti police officer, according to a local news portal.

Al Aan said that a Kuwaiti coastguard boat wanted to apprehend an Iraqi fishing vessel, apparently in Kuwaiti waters near Bubyan island, when the Iraqi fishermen opened fire, killing one officer.

The fishermen have reportedly managed to escape, but the Kuwaiti coastguards have alerted their Iraqi counterparts and asked them to hand them the culprits, the report said.
