Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Municipality is working on separating burial sites at the Sulaibikhat cemetery between citizens and residents, local media reported.
Citizens will continue to be buried at the old site, but residents will be moved to the forensic cemetery located in the south side.
Several changes have been going on at the cemetery due to the COVID-19 pandemic as new regulations and measures are being put in place to ensure social distancing.
That said, as Kuwait plans to lift the partial curfew on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, the opening hours of the cemetery will be longer from 5am to 6pm.
Funeral prayers
The municipality also banned holding funeral prayers inside the main hall at the cemetery and instead set up makeshift outdoor shading structures and air conditioned spaces so that visitors can pray outside.
In addition, since the outdoor hall is closed the municipality has put up umbrellas that serve as the outdoor hall since the inside space is closed for receiving condolences.
