Manama: Five Kuwaiti lawmakers have filed a motion to enact a law to fingerprint foreigners coming into Kuwait in reciprocation of the fingerprinting of Kuwaiti nationals arriving in their countries.

"Several countries have imposed the fingerprinting of citizens from specific countries, especially after the 9/11 attacks," MPs Ahmad Al Saadoon, Mislim Al Barrak, Khalid Al Tahoos, Ali Al Daqbassi and Faysal Al Msallam, said.

"Since such measures are considered acts of sovereignty for the countries, and since these countries imposed them on Kuwaiti nationals, we have to reciprocate and impose fingerprinting on their nationals when they come into Kuwait," the lawmakers said, Kuwaiti daily Al Mustaqbil reported on Tuesday.
