50,000 Lyrica capsules, three kilos of hashish, and four kilos of other narcotics seized
Dubai: Kuwait has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics from the United Kingdom into the country via air freight.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior revealed that the seized shipment included a significant quantity of Lyrica capsules, hashish, and other suspected narcotic substances.
Authorities confiscated 50,000 Lyrica capsules, three kilograms of hashish, and four kilograms of other narcotics.
The case involves a lawyer and several others, one of whom remains a fugitive outside the country. It is linked to earlier investigations that had already led to the arrest of a Kuwaiti man.
Further investigations revealed that the mastermind behind the operation— also a Kuwaiti national living abroad — has a criminal record and is subject to prior court rulings, including a prison sentence in absentia.
Authorities believe the smuggling operation aimed to distribute the drugs to young people in Kuwait through a local network, deliberately targeting youth as the most vulnerable demographic.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down all individuals involved, both locally and internationally, stressing that the law will reach anyone who threatens the safety and well-being of society—especially its youth.
