Cairo: An Egyptian doctor died in a Kuwaiti hospital today after he had recovered from COVID-19, a local hospital said.

Dr. Awwad Abdul Hamid, an internal disease specialist, was among the doctors on the frontlines in fighting against the highly infectious disease in Kuwait, Al Qabas newspaper reported.

The 50-year-old doctor had contracted the virus in late May while working at the Jaber Hospital allocated for treating COVID-19 patients. He later recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
