Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad is in good health after he has recovered from a “minor health setback,” Speaker of the country’s parliament Marzouq Al Ghanem has said.
Last week, the royal court said that Shaikh Sabah, 90, has recovered from an unspecified health problem.
“It is shameful and unethical what some fake and suspicious websites report about His Highness the emir of the country, who experienced a minor health setback and has overcome it,” Al Ghanem, added, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Rai.
“I meet His Highness on a daily basis and constantly. In the past days, we have asked him to take some rest and have a full convalescence period,” he said.
Ghanem was one of several senior Kuwaiti officials whom Shaikh Sabah met on Monday in the Bayan Palace, Kuwait’s state news agency KUNA reported.
The Kuwait Emir also met Kuwaiti Crown Prince Nawaf Al Ahmad and Prime Minister Jaber Al Mubarak. Kuna carried photos of the meetings in which the emir appeared healthy.
Sheikh Sabah has been ruling Kuwait since 2006.
