Kuwait City: On Friday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the Israeli displacement of Palestinians residents in the East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah, Kuwait’s stated media KUNA reported.
In a statement, the ministry stated that they condemn the Israeli settlement expansion pointing to the fact that it is against international law and disrupts the efforts aimed at finding a solution to the ongoing conflict.
The statement was issued after days of unrest in the occupied territory of Sheikh Jarrah between Palestinian residents and Israeli police and ultra-nationalist Israeli settlers.
Tensions rose after Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah were waiting on a decision by Israel’s Supreme Court on the fate of dozens of families that might be forced to evict their homes. The court is set to hold a hearing on Monday, coinciding with the day Israel celebrates Jerusalem day, an annual celebration that commemorates their capture of East Jerusalem in 1967.
The Ministry called on the international community to put a stop to such unilateral decisions and to resume peace talks with the goal of finding a solution based on international legitimacy.

Several Palestinians stated that the forced eviction of families in Sheikh Jarrah are at the core of the conflict and that if the ruling forces them out of their homes this can set a precedent throughout East Jerulelum.
The struggle of the Sheikh Jarrah residents was felt by Palestininas across the occupied territories leading to rising tensions.
During the Friday prayer at Jerusalem’s Al Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, Israeli police fired rubber bullets and grenades at Palestinian youths that were hurling rocks.
Reports indicated that at least 205 Palestinians and 17 officers were injured, as thousands of Palestinians were up against several hundred Israeli police in riot gear.
