Manama: Kuwait police are investigating the case of a husband who threatened his wife with releasing an intimate video of them together, on the Internet, if she insisted on getting alimony.

The wife of the man, who filed the complaint from Hawalli, said the couple had recorded "intimate moments" at times when their relationship was good.

However, things had changed between them and now that they have split up, the husband was attempting to blackmail her into dismissing a ruling, which granted her alimony.

Only last month, a Kuwaiti was blackmailed into paying KD1, 000 (Dh13, 080) after he was filmed undressing before a web cam, while chatting to a girl.

The Arab Times reported that the citizen told the police he had befriended a woman in a chat room who said she wanted to see his body. The man undressed, but later realised he’d been duped by an Arab man. The imposter initially demanded KD1, 000 for not posting the clip, but one month later, asked for KD3, 000, prompting the Kuwaiti national to seek help from the police.
