Cairo: Kuwait Friday confirmed 641 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily incidence so far in the country, bringing to 7,208 its infection tally, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA said.

The Health Ministry also reported three more deaths from COVID-19, raising the total such fatalities to 47.

Three among the latest cases are linked to travel to the UK, the ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a media update.

The other 638 patients were in contact with previously infected people or the sources of their infection are being investigated, the official added.

The ministry also said 85 more patients have recovered from COVID-19, taking to 2,466 the total recoveries in the country.
