Cairo: Kuwait Thursday reported 845 new cases of the novel coronavirus, raising the country's infection tally to 24,112, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.

The Health Ministry also announced 10 more deaths from COVID-19, bringing the total such fatalities in the country to 185.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a media update.

He said that 81 people have left institutional quarantine centres and will have to spend at least 14 days in home isolation.

Health Minister Dr Basil Al Sabah earlier Thursday said that 752 more patients have recovered from the disease, bringing to 8,698 the total of such recoveries in the country.

Kuwait this week said it will not extend a 20-day complete lockdown that is due to end next Saturday and instead will return to enforcing a partial curfew as a step towards gradual restoration of normal life in the country.
