Cairo: Kuwait on Saturday announced 11 new deaths from COVID-19, taking the country's such fatalities to 107, the official news agency KUNA reported.

The Health Ministry also recorded 942 new infections, bringing Kuwait's tally to 13,802, the ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a media update.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection,.

The official added that 169 patients are in intense care units.

The Health Ministry said that 203 more patients have recovered from the disease, bringing to 3,843 the total of recoveries in Kuwait.

Kuwait has recently seen a rise in COVID-19 cases, prompting the government to impose a total nationwide curfew currently in force until May 30.
