COVID-19: Kuwait registers 836 new cases, 4 deaths

Cairo: Kuwait has recorded 836 further cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, taking the country's infection tally to 54,894, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported Sunday, citing a health official.

The latest cases are 549 Kuwaitis and 287 foreign residents, the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said in a media briefing.

Four more deaths from COVID-19 have brought the total such fatalities in Kuwait to 390, according to the official.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection, Dr Al Sanad added.

There are 151 patients receiving intensive care treatment, the official said.

Kuwait's total virus tests have reached 433,336 so far after 3,835 tests have been done over the past 24 hours, Dr Al Sanad said.

The Health Ministry said that 649 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries from the disease to 44,610 in Kuwait.
