Five more deaths bring total to 112 as Gulf state grapples with pandemic

Cairo: Kuwait on Sunday confirmed 1,048 new cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the country's infection tally to 14,850, the official news agency reported.
All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection,the Health Ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said.
The ministry also announced five new deaths from COVID-19, bringing Kuwait's total such fatalities to 112.
The ministry added that 250 more patients have recovered from the disease, bringing to 4,093 the total of recoveries in the country.
Kuwait has recently seen a rise in COVID-19 cases, prompting the government to impose a total nationwide curfew currently in force until May 30.
