Abu Dhabi: Authorities in Kuwait airport were mobilised Wednesday to facilitate the departure of 6,180 passengers stranded due to the coronavirus on board 32 flights, to India, Egypt and Jordan.

The Egyptian community topped the highest numbers of passengers and flights for the third day in a row, with a total of 11,000 departing over the course of just three days, of whom 4,500 left Wednesday on board 21 flights.

A source told daily Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas that the reopening of the Sohag station encouraged local and regional airlines to attract thousands of Egyptian passengers wishing to leave the country, by offering reduced offers for tickets.

The source added that the decision of the Cabinet stipulates the fulfillment of the wishes of all airlines to transport nationals who wish to leave, by submitting an application to the Air Transport Department with their needs to organise the departing flights.
