Manama: Bahraini authorities have arrested two individuals for posting religiously offensive content on social media. The suspects, aged 24 and 27, were detained by the Anti-Cyber Crimes Directorate of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security.

The posts insulted figures revered by a particular sect and incited sedition and sectarianism, contravening principles of civil peace and social stability, reports Bahrain News Agency.

Authorities have announced that the case will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
