COVID-19: One death, 173 new coronavirus cases in Bahrain

Dubai: Bahrain’s Ministry of Health has announced the death of an 80-year-old Bahrain citizen from the coronavirus, taking the country’s death toll to 9.

In a series of tweets, the ministry said the deceased, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.

The ministry expressed its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family during this difficult time.

The ministry has also reported another 173 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 5,409.

It further said that 121 expatriate workers were among the new cases, with 52 of them getting the virus from direct contact with active cases.

A total of 30 COVID-19 patients have recovered fully from the symptoms of the virus, taking the total number of patients recovered so far to 2,182, the ministry added.

Currently, a total of 196,128 people have been tested and the total number of confirmed active cases is 3,218, among which 5 patients are in critical condition.
