Will be optional and made available for free to all citizens and foreigners, he says

Cairo: Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa has taken a vaccine against COVID-19, the country’s official news agency BNA reported.
The monarch thanked the kingdom’s people for abiding by precautions against the novel coronavirus, saying that such abidance has helped limit the spread of the highly infectious disease.
Bahrain, a country of around 1.7 million population, so far has registered 89,600 virus cases and 349 related fatalities.
BNA also quoted the king as expressing appreciation for frontline personnel in different state institutions and volunteers for “setting the brightest examples of devotion” with the aim of bringing life back to normal.
On Wednesday, the Bahraini king announced that his country will start “soon” a campaign for vaccination against COVID-19.
He added that the vaccine will be optional and made available for free to all citizens and foreign residents in the country.
Bahrain aims at vaccinating 5,000 people per day, to be maximised to 10,000.
It is not clear yet when the vaccination drive will begin in the kingdom.
Earlier this week, Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) announced approving the registration of a vaccine against COVID-19 developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm.
Bahrain this month became the second country in the world after the UK granting an emergency use authorisation for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19.
