Dubai: Seven Health Ministry employees were fined BD500 each in Bahrain for serious negligence in performing duties leading to a loss of BD12,000, local media reported

The failure of employees in performing their duties resulted in the loss of more than 170,000 painkiller tablets from the ministry's drug stores, said the Minor Criminal Court in its verdict.

The Public Prosecution said it is studying the ruling to file an appeal to increase the penalty.

Bahrain has been reporting an upward trend in the daily COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks. Out of 14,186 COVID-19 tests carried out yesterday, 896 new cases have been detected. There were 627 recoveries from COVID-19, increasing total recoveries to 103,878. There are currently 59 COVID-19 cases in a critical condition, and 122 cases receiving treatment; 6,980 are stable out of a total of 7,039 active cases.
