Cairo: Bahrain has denied allegations about importing goods from Israeli colonies after a historic peace pact between the two countries.

Bahrain’s news agency BNA quoted an official source as denying a statement attributed to Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed Bin Rashid Al Zayani to an Israeli journalist regarding the import of goods produced in the West Bank and the Golan Heights.

“The minister’s statement was misinterpreted and the ministry is committed to the Bahraini government’s fixed stance vis-a-vis adherence to the resolutions of the United Nations, the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation concerning the Israeli colonies in the West Bank and the Syrian Golan Heights,” added the source at the Bahraini Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

Earlier this week, Al Zayani visited Israel and held talks to boost bilateral cooperation.
