New York: Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Bin Mohammad Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the latest developments in the Middle East and topics on the agenda of the 68th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Bahrain News Agency, BNA, quoted Shaikh Khalid as asserting the importance of bilateral relations based on mutual respect for the sovereignty of countries, that adhere to the principles of good-neighbourliness and non-interference in internal affairs. He said that he was looking forward to the contributions of the newly elected Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, to opening a new page and a new dialogue between the two countries for their mutual interest.

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed his country’s respect for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the importance of the region’s stability.
