Move continues an earlier exemption introduced as part of efforts to strengthen ties

Dubai: China has extended its visa exemption policy for Omani citizens holding ordinary passports till December 31, 2026, in a move aimed at facilitating travel, business and cultural exchanges between the two countries, Muscat daily reported.
The announcement was made during a media briefing at the Chinese Embassy in Muscat on Tuesday. Omani citizens may continue to travel to China for tourism, business, family visits and transit without applying for a visa.
The move continues an earlier exemption introduced as part of efforts to strengthen economic, cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
China’s Ambassador to Oman, Lyu Jian, said the decision reflects the strength of relations and growing cooperation between Muscat and Beijing. He also confirmed that a new direct flight between the two countries will begin on November 30.
He said educational and cultural cooperation is expanding, with Chinese language courses now offered in four Omani high schools and more scholarships planned for Omani students in Chinese universities.
The extension means Omani travellers can enter China for short visits without undergoing visa procedures, easing travel for tourism, business meetings, medical visits and cultural exchanges. The policy has been widely welcomed by frequent travellers, who say the simplified entry rules reduce costs and make planning trips significantly easier.
Authorities in both countries encouraged Omani visitors to ensure their passports meet validity requirements and to comply with entry regulations upon arrival in China. The extension reflects China’s continued push to boost international travel and enhance global connectivity.
