The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) of Pakistan foiled a major gold smuggling attempt at Bacha Khan International Airport, arresting two Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees, ARY News reported.

The suspects, identified as Nasir Khan and Shahidullah, were caught in a joint operation with the Airport Security Force (ASF). Authorities recovered 7,740 grams of gold, valued at millions of rupees, from their luggage. The haul was allegedly being prepared for illegal export.

FIA officials confirmed that both men were remanded in custody for two days to assist further interrogation.

Investigators said the arrests could uncover additional suspects linked to smuggling rackets operating through Pakistani airports.

The FIA said the case reflects its intensified crackdown on international smuggling networks exploiting the country’s aviation sector.
