It missed a parked vehicle and several bystanders before smashing through glass entrance
A woman lost control of her SUV and crashed into the reception area of the upscale Ramada Hotel in Bareilly’s Civil Lines neighbourhood on July 25 night, reports said. The dramatic incident, caught on CCTV, quickly went viral on social media.
The footage shows a white compact SUV suddenly reversing at high speed, narrowly missing a parked vehicle and several bystanders, before smashing through the hotel’s glass entrance and coming to a stop deep inside the reception lobby. Onlookers can be seen scrambling to safety just moments before the crash.
Eyewitnesses said the woman had taken control of the vehicle shortly after dinner. Reports suggest she accidentally pressed the accelerator while in reverse gear, causing the SUV to lurch backward uncontrollably. The impact shattered the hotel’s front facade, shocking guests and staff inside.
No injuries were reported. Four people — two standing at the entrance and two nearby — escaped unscathed. However, the hotel’s lobby and glass entrance sustained significant damage.
While no criminal charges have been filed yet, officials confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
