Dubai: Autorickshaw drivers in Bengaluru haven’t always enjoyed the best reputation. Stories of disputes with passengers and unpleasant ride experiences frequently surface on social media.

However, a recent video has offered a refreshing change to that narrative, and it's capturing hearts across platforms.

The video, shared by influencer Tamanna Tanweer, features a young woman, Safura Khan, who has taken an unconventional path by choosing to be an autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru, challenging societal norms and gender stereotypes.

Tamanna had hailed an auto and was surprised to see a young woman behind the wheel. Intrigued, she struck up a conversation with Safura during the ride and later posted the interaction on social media, a clip that quickly went viral.

In the video, Safura shares her inspiring journey. Driving, she says, has always been a passion. But with limited financial resources, buying a car wasn’t feasible. So, she chose an auto — a vehicle she could afford — and turned it into a way to do what she loves while earning a living on her own terms.

"I love driving any vehicle, car, auto, bike, anything. I just didn’t have the budget for a Swift car, so I thought I’d start with an auto. Maybe one day I’ll buy a car, who knows?” she told Tanweer.

What truly stood out was her enthusiasm for her work. "Whatever I’m doing, I don’t feel like, ‘Oh, it’s Monday, I have to work.’ I enjoy every single day. I’m happy and full of energy," she added with a smile.

The video struck a chord with thousands. Social media lit up with admiration for Safura’s grit, positivity, and infectious energy. Clips of her cheerfully engaging with passengers quickly circulated, and her smile left a lasting impression.

One user commented, “Love her energy and hats off to her for breaking stereotypes. About six years ago, I met a female auto driver in Chennai who was the sole breadwinner and got her daughters married riding her auto. So much pride in what she did.”

Another wrote, “Bengaluru needs more Safooras. Skill, grit, and joy at work. Respect.”

Others praised her charm and determination. “Her smile is so refreshing. Hope all her dreams come true.”

“So super proud — I have goosebumps. May she be blessed with abundance and an amazing life.”
