Fight erupts over improperly flushed toilet between families
New Delhi: An 18-year-old scrap shop worker was allegedly stabbed to death by his neighbours in South Delhi in a dispute over a common toilet not being flushed properly.
The incident occurred on Friday night between the two siblings and a family living on the first floor of a building in Govindpuri, South Delhi, as reported by news agency PTI.
Sudheer, his 22-year-old brother Prem, and their friend Sagar got into a fight with Bhikam Singh, his wife Meena, and their three sons: Sanjay, 20, Rahul, 18, and a minor.
According to police, Bhikam Singh, his wife Meena, and their sons attacked the three youths. Using a kitchen knife, they stabbed Sudheer in the chest, face, and scalp, resulting in fatal injuries. His brother, Prem, is undergoing treatment, and their friend Sagar was discharged after receiving medical attention.
The incident came to light when the accused’s family informed the police that they had been attacked by the three youths.
"Both parties were tenants on the first floor of the building and shared a common toilet. The quarrel started when Bhikam’s youngest son used the toilet and failed to flush it," police said in a statement.
Sagar Malik, a neighbour, told PTI Videos that the victims were beaten with rods and knives. "Bhikam’s family called the police and claimed that their mother was attacked," Malik was quoted saying to PTI News.
A case of murder has been registered, and Bhikam and his family have been apprehended for investigation, police confirmed.
Sudheer, a native of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, paid ₹3,000 per month in rent for the house he shared with his brother, an e-rickshaw driver. Bhikam Singh, who works at a building materials shop, had moved into the building about 45 days ago.
