Patna: An IT professional-turned-psycho killer accused of shooting as many as 20 people dead offered Rs 50 million to a Bihar police team who arrested him from the Indo-Nepal border on Friday evening.

The shooter identified as Avinash Srivastava alias Amit was trying to sneak into Nepal through the porous Indo-Nepal border when a police team raided a hotel at Raxaul town and arrested him.

“Please leave me. I will give you Rs50 million,” the arrested shooter reportedly told the cops but the latter rejected his offer. Reports said the arrested shooter sought only two hours to arrange for the bribe money.

“We are interrogating the killer. He has confessed to his involvement in many crimes,” Patna’s senior superintendent of police Upendra Sharma said.

Police said the IT professional who fluently speaks English turned to the world of crime to avenge the murder of his father Lalan Srivastava, a former lawmaker, who was killed in 2002. Police said he fired as many as 32 bullets into the body of his father’s killer while in another case, he continued sitting with the body of his other target for three hours and fired bullets into his body every five minutes.

Police said the arrested killer is so cruel that he would kill his targets in a brutal way, showing no mercy at all. “He has confessed to having eliminated at least 20 people so far since 2003,” a senior police official said.

Shot 32 times

The serial killer did his masters degree in Computer application from the prestigious Jamia Milia Islamia University in New Delhi.

The very next year, he finally killed his father’s alleged main killer Pappu Khan who was shot 32 times. It is said that a popular Bollywood film “Gangs of Wasseypur-II” where one of the characters empties his gun into his father’s killer is inspired by the life of this psycho killer who now claims to have killed five out of six persons involved in the killing of his father. As per reports, the psycho killer even killed the lawyer who was fighting the case of his father’s killers.

According to the shooter, his life as an IT professional was going smooth until his father was killed by some gangsters. Prior to turning to crime, he worked in Infosys and got a handsome salary.

The police had arrested him three years back while he was planning to commit crime. According to the police, he had got contracts to kill six persons but was arrested and sent to jail before he could execute his plan. It was after release from jail earlier this month that he was planning to flee Nepal.

Such was his brazenness that when the media inquired about his criminal history after his arrest, he asked them not to waste time and suggested to just search for his profile on Google. “Why are you wasting my time? Just type ‘Avinash psycho killer’ on Google and you will get all the details about me,” the serial killer said.
