New Delhi: A man from Haryana was charred to death after his car caught fire early on Saturday morning, police said.

Victim Sumit, a native of Sirsa, was on his way to Gurugram, when his car hit a truck and some newspapers inside it caught fire at Sheikh Sarai, near Ambedkar Nagar.

Sumit was coming from a printing press in Noida in a Maruti Echo car and was carrying newspapers to be delivered in Gurugram, Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said, adding that this was his routine job.

According to fire officials, a call reporting the incident was received at 1.48am.

“Three fire tenders were rushed to douse the fire. His completely burnt body was recovered and sent to a hospital for post-mortem,” he said.
