Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended on Sunday a ceremony to honour winners of the second edition of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, praised the efforts of Dr Shaikh Sultan in supporting and preserving heritage and making Sharjah the role model in preserving the Arab cultural heritage.
During the ceremony held at the headquarters of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Dr Al Musallam congratulated the winners and wished them success.
Dr Rashad Salem, Director of Al Qasimia University and the award’s jury member, thanked Dr Shaikh Sultan for his support and his far-sighted vision in supporting various programmes in Sharjah.
Dr Shaikh Sultan presented commemorative trophies and certificates of appreciation to the winners. He also honoured the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) and the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) for sponsoring the Award.
A musical and cultural art show was also held during the ceremony.
