If you could compare a regular pizza to gourmet Italian food, or a mass production car to a Cadillac limo, you'd understand the significance of an 'exclusive' writing instrument
Every choice you make tells something about yourself how much you value yourself. A professional image would mean paying attention to details, such as the tools and accessories you use on a daily basis, how presentable you are, your communication skills, etc. All of this shapes people's perception of you.
Your first impression of a person is the impression that will last. If you walk into a business meeting with a respectable client, in a well-pressed suit, impressive tie, but dirty, worn out shoes, chances are, you're not going to make the best impression. In order to leave a mark you cannot afford to leave out the details. Everything has to blend in effortlessly.
And this is where Montblanc plays a vital part. Dressed for success, when you sign documents or hand write notes with a quality Montblanc, you're sure to leave behind your mark.
The exclusive club
Montblanc has a certain exclusivity to it. Owners tend to feel a sense of esprit de corps, or camaraderie with each other. And it is for this precise reason that Montblanc came up with the idea of an exclusive, members-only Montblanc 4810 Club. The club's exclusivity lies in the fact that it's by invitation only. One cannot choose to apply to become a member.
In accordance with the Montblanc tradition of valuing their customers, each Montblanc boutique around the world has a certain relationship with customers who are regular buyers, either collectors, regular institution buyers or VIPs. These are the criteria used by Montblanc to divide the club members into different categories: Limited Edition collectors, VIP people who are regularly visible in public, frequent and/or high purchase value customers of the boutique, decision takers and opinion leaders from industry, media, etc., and selected journalists.
"The main objective of the club," maintains Ashley Eide, the marketing manager for Rivoli and Montblanc pens, "is to implement a customer programme for all important and loyal Montblanc customers."
The club is called Club 4810 because 4810 is the height of the Montblanc mountain range. All Club 4810 members can enjoy, at any Montblanc boutique worldwide, exclusives to the new Montblanc products, immediate and free-of-cost pen and watch maintenance, pen engraving and leather embossing, leather watch strap replacement, battery replacement, engraved stationery, limited edition prescription as well as VIP service at Montblanc headquarters in Hamburg.
In addition to this, locally, special discounts are offered to members.
"In Dubai we've started with a group of 18 key members. When we nominate someone as a member, they are presented with a gift pack, consisting of their membership card, a leather bound instructions booklet as well as a leather passport carrier," states Eide.
The other advantage of being a member is that if you're an avid collector of Montblanc you get first preference when new editions are out in the market. Montblanc also helps members locate particular collector's versions or limited edition pens they've been looking for.
Why Montblanc?
With a nib made from 18 carrot gold, which has been cut, ground and finished individually by hand with infinite care in an elaborate process involving more than 100 stages, the heart of each of these fountain pens is truly unique and able in the hand of its owner to add a genuinely distinctive, personal touch.
A Montblanc pen has a rich history and tradition behind it and is something people aspire to own. It's a symbol of prestige, an icon of class. People wear their Montblanc pen with pride.
