Dubai: An Asian woman died on Monday morning after she fell from the seventh floor of the Atrium Centre building in Bur Dubai.

The blood-soaked body found on the right corner of the building lobby near the lifts shocked office workers.

Police crime investigators were at the scene. It was not immediately clear whether it was a case of suicide, an accident or foul play.

“She was wearing a black flowery dress. She looked Asian to me,” said an eye-witness. “It looks like her body fell on a piece of concrete before hitting the ground. An emergency worker picked up what looks like a leg which fell near the body.”

Police cordoned off the area where the body fell.

A Pakistani man who works for a shipping company at the Atrium Centre said: “I was depressed when I saw a motionless body on the ground floor at around 10am. There was blood all over. God bless her soul.”

The building is occupied mostly by shops and offices.

It is not clear whether or not the woman works in one of the offices.

A spa worker on the mezzanine floor said: “When I walked in to start work and saw people gathering around something on the ground floor, I ignored it. But when I saw the blood and a woman’s covered body, I realised something’s not right. Then I saw emergency workers putting her body in a bag.”

A Filipino accountant said: “We had just finished our morning meeting when I saw a woman’s body on the ground floor. It’s the worst start to my working day.”
