Microsoft's Windows XP operating system will be globally launched on October 25. Both the Arabic and English editions of the new operating system will launch in Dubai, simultaneous to the global release, said Mazen Shehadah, Windows XP product marketing manager.

The launch will be held in the American University of Dubai, followed by a series of regional releases in Kuwait on October 29, Abu Dhabi on November 4 and Jordan on November 13, he added.

Currently, a number of select regional companies have preview programmes on Windows XP. They include: Dubai Internet City, Aramex, and the Kuwaiti Public Warehousing Co.

Windows XP builds on the momentum of the Internet and digital media with improvements that increase productivity and provide both businesses and home users with an easy-to-use and exciting PC experience, said Shehadah.

Windows XP extends the personal computing experience by uniting PCs, devices and services and bring the solid foundation of Windows 20-00 to home PC users, enhancing reliability, security and performance.
