An Indian astrologer claims he can predict the illnesses a person is prone to from the time, date and place of birth
The time you are born, the date and the place together determine the health factor in your journey through life, claims Harsh Khiraya, a Mumbai-based practising astrologer, and an expert in medical astrology.
"A horoscope is nothing but a snapshot of the heavenly stars at the time when one is born" he explains, "it includes 12 houses, star signs and planets. Each house, star sign and planet correspond to different body parts. By co-relating and discerning all these, one can easily find out what's wrong or what a person is prone to, health wise."
Seven years ago, a major depression due to an exam, led to Khoraiya's interest in astrology. He found the correspondence of astrology and the human body, very interesting. "I started practising by asking people whether they had been hurt in the right eye or had a fracture in the left leg" he recalls. "This was the most striking part of the horoscope and I was about 70 per cent true and I gathered that there was some logic to it and I carried my research further."
He claims to have had an almost 90 per cent success rate in his predictions, prompting many people to start working on their health problems. Khiraiya has worked with childless couples, and also claims to have foreseen kidney troubles and cancer. "A horoscope is a map of your propensities, not certainties," he says. "We are giving you boundaries and your susceptibility and it is for you to work within those boundaries."
He clarifies that he is not a doctor and nor does he interfere in their work. For instance, if a person is suffering from a psychiatric problem, Khiraya merely provides remedies to strengthen his mind, while his treatment with a psychiatrist continues. Although the illness might not vanish from the horoscope, the degree will reduce.
"I can only foresee major illnesses" he adds "but I could give advice for chronic illnesses such as common colds, cough, lethargy, joint problems, etc."
According to astrology, every planet is an energy pattern with a frequency and one has to tap into its frequency. Astrology is also closely connected to traditional Indian medicine, Ayurveda, wherein the concept of sickness is explained in terms of the imbalance of energies in the body; if one balances the energies then one regains good health.
"Thus for astrological remedies, one has to appease the planets accordingly" adds Khiraiya. These would include fasting on certain days, donating to the poor or wearing certain stones for a period.
