Seas along the UAE's coastline are rough, causing strong winds to blow dust across UAE
Dubai: On Sunday afternoon, June 1, dust storms and strong winds were reported in various parts of the UAE. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a yellow weather alert warning motorists of reduced visibility on the roads, especially in Abu Dhabi.
According to the recent weather update from the NCM, fresh northwesterly winds are sweeping across the region, stirring up clouds of dust and sand. This phenomenon has significantly reduced horizontal visibility to below 3,000 metres in several internal and coastal areas.
Residents should be mindful of these conditions, which are expected to persist until 7pm. Residents can anticipate dusty skies and a slight increase in temperatures both during the day and night.
Looking ahead to Monday, June 2, the weather is expected to be generally fair with periods of partly cloudy skies, particularly in the eastern regions. Temperatures are predicted to rise, and it will be humid overnight and on Tuesday morning in some coastal and inland areas, with a chance of mist formation.
Light to moderate northwesterly winds will occur, occasionally intensifying and causing blowing dust during the day, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, potentially reaching up to 40 km/h.
The sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are expected to be slight to moderate, but there may be times when it becomes rough due to changing weather patterns or strong winds.
In contrast, the Oman Sea will generally experience moderate to slight conditions, providing a more stable environment for marine activities. Overall, boaters and fishermen should remain cautious, especially in the Arabian Gulf where fluctuations in sea state can occur.
