Weather alert: Rain in Al Ain, the rest of the UAE braces for high temperature and extreme humidity

Dubai: UAE residents in Al Ain saw overcast skies on Wednesday evening, with light to moderate rain in some areas. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), rains were caused due to the formation of convective (rainy) clouds over Al Ain. Rain is expected intermittently, till 8pm.

As per the latest weather report, cloudy weather is expected till August 10, with chance of more rainfall at times. This weather is due to an extension of surface low pressure, accompanied by upper air low pressure systems from both the South and the North, along with a relatively cold air mass in the upper levels, as stated by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in its advisory for conditions across the UAE.

Temperature and humidity

Temperatures across the country have seen a slight increase over the past week. While the maximum temperature yesterday reached 49°C, lowest temperature recorded this morning was 24.2°C. The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 47.9°C in Bada Dafas (Al Dhafrah Region) at 12:45pm.

Humidity is also high across the UAE, with Relative Humidity levels recorded around 80 to 85 per cent in the internal areas, and above 90 per cent in coastal areas.
