The Met Office issued a yellow alert over Arabian Sea, warning of rough sea conditions
Dubai: Rain hit parts of the UAE on Wednesday evening. According to the Met Office, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in parts of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah. Cooler temperatures and pleasant weather are expected across the country.
Instagram account @storm.ae shared a Wednesday evening video of heavy rain in Fujairah.
Clouds began to form off the coast around noon, leading to light rain reported in Skamkam, Fujairah, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). By 2:57 PM, cloudy weather was observed in Ras Al Khaimah, accompanied by light rain in Al Rams, Wadi Haqeel, Khatt, and Gheelan. Later in the day, heavy rain was reported in Dudna, Fujairah at around 5.40pm, followed by rainfall in Khorfakkan, Sharjah around 6pm.
Meanwhile, Dubai residents saw overcast skies. Strong winds were also reported in some areas.
The NCM also issued a precautionary alert for motorists in the region. They asked motorists to stay away from areas of flash flooding and accumulated rain.
Motorists were also advised to avoid driving unless it is absolutely necessary and to turn on low-beam headlights when the visibility is reduced.
On Thursday, the weather will be partly cloudy and dusty at times. Low clouds will appear over some Eastern and Northern areas with a chance of rainfall, with a significant decrease in temperatures.
The NCM also said that relative humidity is expected to increase by night and Friday morning, causing fog and mist formation in some internal and coastal areas.
Winds are expected to be variable, particularly over the sea, on Thursday morning, with speeds ranging from 15 to 25 km/h, and occasionally reaching up to 35 km/hr.
The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
