Extreme dusty weather conditions will continue tomorrow according to the NCM forecast
Dubai: Motorists across the UAE are advised to exercise caution as an orange dust alert has been issued for several regions of the country. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has warned of a heavy dust storm expected to last until 7 PM today.
Residents can anticipate dusty skies and a significant drop in temperatures both during the day and night.
The NCM has issued yellow and orange dust alerts for areas including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Al Dhafra region, which will greatly reduce horizontal visibility.
Residents were advised to drive carefully in an alert issued by the NCM.
With temperature highs ranging between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius and lows between 19 and 24 degrees Celsius, it’s important for everyone to be mindful of the changing weather conditions.
In addition, moderate to strong Northwesterly winds are forecasted throughout the day, with speeds reaching up to 50 km/hr in coastal and island areas, and between 40 to 45 km/hr in mountainous and internal regions. These dusty weather conditions are expected to persist into tomorrow, as outlined in the NCM forecast.
Looking ahead to Thursday, May 8, the weather is expected to be dusty with periods of partial cloudiness. Humidity is likely to increase overnight, which may result in mist formation in some interior areas. Winds will remain moderate to fresh, becoming strong at times over the sea. This may lead to blowing dust and sand inland, with wind speeds ranging from 15 to 30 km/hr, and peaking at 45 km/hr.
The sea conditions will also be quite severe in the morning, transitioning to rough to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea by the afternoon. Stay safe and travel with caution!
