Dubai: This afternoon, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported light rain across several areas, including Adhen, Al Ghail, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road in Fujairah, with light showers also recorded in Dibba, Fujairah. Earlier in the day, light to moderate rain affected Al Suyoh, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain, while light rain was reported at Dubai International Airport and Al Minhad in Dubai. Abu Dhabi's Al Bateen also saw light rain this morning.
The NCM has issued yellow and orange dust alerts, warning of reduced visibility, particularly at Al Maktoum International Airport, where visibility has dropped to less than 2000 meters at 2pm today.
The weather bureau has issued safety advice amid these dust storms, urging the public to drive cautiously, keep windows and doors shut, avoid direct exposure to the dust, and stay updated with official weather reports.
A video shared by the Storm_ae Instagram account showcased windy, dusty conditions in the northwest of Dubai this afternoon.
Looking ahead, tomorrow’s forecast predicts dusty to partly cloudy skies over parts of the northern, coastal, and eastern regions, with humidity increasing by night and Thursday morning. Northwesterly winds will be moderate to fresh, intensifying by morning and causing blowing dust and sand, with wind speeds reaching 20-35 km/hr, possibly reaching 50 km/hr. The sea will be very rough in the Arabian Gulf and rough in the Oman Sea.
