UAE braces for extreme heat and humidity as Suhail star rises

Dubai: The UAE is entering one of the hottest phases of the year, with extreme heat and soaring humidity expected through the final third of August, according to astronomers.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, explained: “With the rising of the Suhail star in late August, residents can expect intense heat and high humidity, which may cause fatigue and exhaustion.”

This period, traditionally known among Arabs as “Suhail’s Ailments,” is expected to last until the autumnal equinox on September 23, when day and night become equal. From September 24 onwards, temperatures are forecast to ease, bringing some relief from the summer heat.
