Dubai: Residents across the UAE were greeted with a cloudy day and some rainfall, providing relief from this week’s sandstorm and dusty weather.

Rain also fell on Dubai, and motorists driving along the corniche at Al Mamzar captured footage of Wednesday’s unstable weather.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported rainfall in Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain, with a significant drop in temperatures over the northern emirates and eastern coast.

Residents can look forwards to the rest of the day being cloudy and a little hazy at times. More clouds are expected to form over the coasts, as well as the Northern and Eastern parts of the country, that may be associated with some rainfall and a drop in temperatures.

Moderate to strong winds will also blow over the eastern and northern coast, picking up dust and sand over exposed areas.

The NCM issued an amber alert that will last until 2pm, and cautioned residents about convective clouds accompanied with strong winds.

Minimum temperatures ranged from 25-30C in coastal areas, 23-29C in internal areas and 19-26C in the mountain region.

The NCM posted a video of rain in Ras Al Khaimah that affected motorists on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road.

The weather on Thursday and Friday is expected to be hazy and partly cloudy, with northwesterly winds of 25-35km/h, which will peak at 45km/h. Dust and sand will blow overexposed areas, with waves at sea ranging from moderate to rough.
