Dubai: It was another rainy day on Monday in mountainous and eastern areas of the UAE following Sunday’s deluge that drenched the region, forcing some people from their homes.
Wadis turned to waterways and streets to streams as rains continued to disrupt routines, mostly in northern and eastern wadis, where the runoff from bare rock mountains funnels into ravines.
There was also rain in the capital Abu Dhabi.
Videos shared on social media channels of the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) show Monday’s showers starting before dawn in some parts.
In its forecast for Tuesday, the NCM said the weather is expected to be “fair” and partly cloudy. Winds are also expected to slow down to “light to moderate” intensity. However, seas will continue to be “moderate to rough”.
On Monday, by evening time, amateur videos on NCM social media channels showed gushing waters in wadis and roads in Hatta, Wadi Al Qur, Masafi, Wadi Abu Furai, Dibba and other places.
Earlier in the day, the NCM reported heavy rain in Fujairah, Dibba Al Hisn in Sharjah and moderate to heavy rain over Dibba (Fujairah) and Khor Fakkan. A few other places also received rain.
On Monday, the highest temperature recorded was 26.3 centigrade in Swiehan, in the central region inland. The lowest temperature recorded on Monday was 5.3 centigrade on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak in Ras Al Khaimah.
