Dubai: Fog may put a damper on the UAE’s New Year Eve plans as cloudy and hazy conditions are forecast ahead of the much-anticipated celebrations.

Revellers and travellers planning New Year celebrations in different parts of the country would do well to keep an eye on the weather conditions as they usher in the New Year.

According to a forecast by National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), Dubai will have partly cloudy and hazy skies on Sunday, with a chance of fog and mist formation leading up to midnight and Monday morning.

Light to moderate wind is also expected throughout Sunday and Monday, while light to moderate currents are expected in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

Weather is expected to be similar on the New Year’s Day as well.

Authorities have urged the revellers to plan in advance and have extra time to reach their planned destinations. Motorists are also urged to drive carefully in foggy conditions, without making any haste while on road.

However, it is unclear if the fog will obstruct the view at the Burj Khalifa or in other places where fireworks and other displays are planned.
