Karolina Agata Sankiewicz marks Philippine Independence Day with a bold surfing tribute
Dubai-based content creator and entrepreneur Karolina Agata Sankiewicz is making serious waves online—literally. In a series of jaw-dropping Facebook Reels that have collectively surpassed 75 million views, Karolina is seen wakesurfing across the iconic waters of Dubai—dressed head-to-toe in a sparkling, modern Filipiniana gown and heels, proudly waving the Philippine flag, and even holding beloved Filipino treats like fried chicken and ube cake.
With a playful smile, she asks, “Who loves ube cake?”—transforming a high-speed stunt into a vibrant celebration of Filipino culture that has captured hearts worldwide.
It’s bold. It’s unexpected. And it’s a dazzling tribute to Filipino pride that’s taken the internet by storm.
Posted just days before the 127th Philippine Independence Day on June 12, the video is more than just visually stunning—it’s a fearless love letter to the Filipino community in the UAE and around the world. The striking image of Karolina balancing tradition and adrenaline—heels on a surfboard, Philippine flag held high—captivated millions and sparked waves of pride across social media.
Karolina explained the inspiration behind the video:
“Feeling blessed and honored for all the love received on the last video—thank you! I decided to create this tribute with the Philippine flag because my team members—Richard Napenas, Daryll James Mabale, and Archie—are from the Philippines. We wanted to honor Filipino culture and community, especially here in the UAE, where the Filipino community is such a vibrant and essential part of society. I love you, Philippines.”
This was their heartfelt way of showing appreciation.
Known affectionately online as the “Barbie Dubai Surfer,” Karolina has gained a reputation for her high-concept, playful surf videos. But this time, her artistry turned emotional—drawing thousands of heartfelt comments from Filipinos around the world, proud to see their culture celebrated with such flair.
In the UAE—home to one of the world’s largest Filipino expat populations—the gesture resonated deeply. It wasn’t just a viral stunt. It was a moment of cultural connection, solidarity, and respect riding high on the waves.
