Abu Dhabi is a city where interesting exhibitions, delightful fountains and pleasant gardens are eagerly shown off to visitors. However, there can't be many places in the world where you can recommend tourists to visit a pedestrian underpass!

To see for yourself, head for the west end of the town and, running from 6th Street where Big Spinney's is situated, to the Corniche you'll discover an underpass that is more like an art gallery. Far removed from the dismal, dingy images such places usually conjure up, here every inch of the wall is covered in brilliantly-coloured and cleverly-executed, mosaic work.

As you walk through, you'll find some of Abu Dhabi's best known architectural landmarks depicted against a background of sunlit sky, rolling sands and palm trees. Further on, it is the desert life scene. On one wall a group of vivacious young girls, dressed brightly, are shown in traditional dance form.
