Lists of eligible voters for Bahrain's May 9 municipal elections will be posted as of Saturday for one week at five polling stations, Bahrain News Agency said yesterday.
Every Bahraini citizen who has completed his 21 year of age on the day of the elections should proceed to one of these polling stations to ensure that his or her name and address are correctly mentioned on the lists, BNA added.
"Voters have a week to make any corrections," said elections Executive Director Sheikh Ahmed bin Attiyatullah Al Khalifa.
"Judges and trained employees will be available from Saturday to help voters with their polling lists and to correct data."
He urged all Bahraini citizens to exercise their voting rights and ensure their names and addresses on the voting lists are accurate. Detailed information can also be obtained through a newly-posted website at www.bahraintoday.net
"All Bahrainis and other GCC nationals who own a property in the Kingdom of Bahrain have the right to vote in municipal elections," Sheikh Ahmed said.
"Every Bahraini who last year voted in the referendum is strongly urged to vote in the municipal elections this time. Last year's referendum was a vote for the sake of democracy in Bahrain, and has resulted in a series of rights and duties for all citizens, including direct participation in municipal elections this may, and in legislative elections in October," he concluded.
