Vedavalli to give concert on Carnatic classical music

The renowned musician, Vidhushi R. Vedavalli, will give a concert of Carnatic classical music at the Indian Association, Sharjah, tomorrow.

Vedavalli, who was honoured with the top 'Sangeetha Kalanidhi' award by the Music Academy in Chennai, will be accompanied by Sumithra Vasudev, vocalist, and B.U. Ganesh Prasad, violin. The concert will start at 7:30 pm at the Indian Association's Sharjah conference hall. Entry is free.

Vedavalli comes from Mannargudi in Thanjavur district, India. When he was seven he started learning Carnatic.

Madurai Srirangam, who graduated in music from the University of Madras and started her professional career in 1951, was his teacher.
