Dubai: The US Embassy and Consulate in the UAE have announced a temporary suspension of new visa appointments and fee payment services for two weeks in May.

From May 15 to 29, the existing visa appointment and fee payment system will be unavailable as the embassy transitions to a new service provider. During this time, applicants will not be able to schedule new appointments or pay visa application fees.

In preparation for the change, the current system will stop accepting new appointments and payments from May 15. However, all non-immigrant and immigrant visa interview appointments scheduled before  May 19 will remain valid. Applicants with existing appointments are advised to attend them as planned.

The new system, set to launch on May 30, will enable applicants to access visa information, pay fees, book and reschedule appointments, and register for document delivery services.

Key information for visa applicants

  • If you already have an appointment scheduled: No action is required. Your appointment will remain valid, and you should attend as scheduled.

  • If you have paid the visa application fee but not yet scheduled an appointment: Ensure you schedule your interview before May 19 using the current system at ais.usvisa-info.com.

  • If you have not started your visa application process: It is recommended that you pay the visa fee and schedule your appointment as soon as possible, as the current system will not accept new payments from May 15.

  • If you need to mail documents to the Consular Section: Submit any required documents at an authorised location before May 24, as document drop-off services will stop after this date.

Urgent visa requests

For urgent cases between May 15 and 29, including family emergencies, medical travel, or business needs, applicants can request an expedited appointment by emailing:

  • Abu Dhabi: ADNIVExpedite@state.gov

  • Dubai: DUBNIVExpedite@state.gov
